Need reliable links to articles and other resources to post on Blackboard or share with other people at EKU?  Simply copying and pasting the URL from the browser does not ensure a durable link - in fact, those browser links are often temporary "session" links that are unique to your session on your computer. If you want to share a link to a book, book chapter, article, streaming video, or any other online resource provided by EKU Libraries, this guide can help you figure out how to do that.

The list at the left will direct you to persistent linking information by specific publisher's platforms.  Only resources that offer persistent linking are listed.

**Always test your persistent links at the beginning of each semester**

To get the persistent link for an eBook or eBook book chapter on the ABC-CLIO eBook Collection platform, click the Link icon located at the top:

The persistent link for you to to copy will appear directly above the title. In order for this persistent link to work off-campus, you will need to add the proxy URL to the beginning of the link.

Here is what the persistent link will look like with the proxy URL added:

To get the persistent link for a streaming video clip, locate the clip you wish to link to in the Clips section to the right of the streaming video:

To get the persistent link to an article on the American Chemical Society website, view the article record.  Copy the link in the address bar of your browser.  In order for the link to work off-campus, you will need to add the proxy URL to the beginning of the persistent link.

To get the persistent link for an article in BioOne, first copy the DOI number for the article.  The DOI number is typically located near the article title, at the top of the page or with the article citation.

You will need to construct a URL using the DOI Number you copied.  Place the following text in front of the DOI Number: http://dx.doi.org/

Using the DOI Number in the example above, 10.4001/1021-3589-16.2.253, here is what the URL will look like:

To get the persistent link for a chapter within an EBL eBook, go to the Contents tab and find the chapter.  Right-click the chapter title and click "Save link address" from the drop-down menu.

EBL links already have the proxy prefix masked masked within them, so you do not need to add the proxy prefix:

To get the persistent link for an article or ebook in an EBSCOhost database, first click the "Permalink" link located in the Tools column, to the right of the record.

To get the persistent link to an article in IOPScience, rightclick the DOI link, located above the article title.

In the dropdown menu that appears, select "Copy Link Location."  For IE users, click "Copy Shortcut."

Each collection and each song in Naxos Music Library has a persistent link.

Link to a collection:

While on the webpage for the collection you wish to link to, copy the URL in the address bar of your browser.  The proxy URL for off-campus access is already built into the link, so you do not need to add it.

Link to a specific song:

On the webpage for the collection containing the song you wish to link to, click the Show Static URL button in the lefthand column.

Once the Show Static URL button is clicked, each song in the righthand column will have a URL displayed beneath it.  Copy the link for the song you wish to link to.  The proxy URL for off-campus access is already built into the link, so you do not need to add it.
