How to Identify a Scholarly Article

  • Check the length of the article - peer-reviewed articles are not just a few pages long
  • Check the article's references - every scholarly article will have an extensive list of sources consulted by the author(s)
  • Google the journal title - the publisher's website will tell you if it's a peer-reviewed journal
  • Review the author's (or authors') credentials - their organizational affiliation will be listed either at the beginning or end of the article
