To find randomized control trials, it is helpful to ...

Ex: You have been asked to find two scholarly articles, one popular article, and one trade article. What does this mean in the context of business research and writing? 

  • A scholarly article is an article that has been written by experts who are working, researching, and/or teaching in the field of business. These articles are written for others researching and studying in business, and are published in academic journals. These articles as well researched, and have undergone the process of peer review.
  • A popular article is an article written to appeal to a broad audience, from those working in business to the general public. These articles can be found in magazines and published on the web, such as articles in the Business section of the New York Times.
  • A trade article is an article written for professionals working in the field of business. These articles do not have the same level of research as a scholarly article, but are more technical than those written for the general public like a popular article. Trade articles are published in professional magazines, newspapers, etc. such as Marketing Weekly.

Library resources should be listed as database assets, and web resources should be listed as links. Remember: Strive for Five. We want to keep lists on the shorter side, around five. Your descriptions for the assets or links should be unique to the user' use case scenario; edit as necessary to add more detail that will help users understand the value of this tool or platform to their work in this course.

  • Databases A-Z List: Journal articles, primary sources, eBooks, and images primarily in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Literature: Journal articles featuring literary theory, criticism, and the critical analysis of texts from every period and literary discipline, spanning the literary cultures of many different countries.
  • Rhetoric & Composition: Journal articles and eBooks covering a range of topics within rhetoric and compositions, including theories and pedagogies of writing; administering writing programs or writing centers; linguistics; the history of rhetoric; and more. Includes historical and foundational texts, as well as more contemporary works.
