Research and reference assistance is always available to you during OPEN Library hours. EKU Libraries provides a suite of RESEARCH HELP SERVICES. Be sure to utilize the following:

Meet with a Librarian!

You may prefer to meet with a librarian for assistance. Each department/program has a librarian assigned to them to offer specific, tailored library and research support.

Check with the Noel Studio!

The Noel Studio provides support with developing effective communications skills. They are a vital component in the creation of well-rounded research. 

The Noel Studio offers numerous forms of support. You can choose to:

• Chat with a consultant;
• Email your question to noelstudio@eku.edu; or
• Schedule an appointment/consultation.

The Library has two services in place that help get you the research materials you need. These services are housed under the umbrella of Interlibrary Loan -- Library Express.

Both services are related and interconnected; however, it isn't necessary for you to be familiar with the nuances of each. 

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan gets you materials that we don't already have access to in our physical collection at the time of your request. This is a free service that costs you nothing to utilize. 

Library Express

Library Express is the service that handles getting you the materials we already have in our collection in a quick, efficient manner. This service is also free.

Use the Request It link!

Online-only students and faculty should use the Request It link to request print books or other physical materials from EKU Libraries current physical collection. The Request It link is connected to the Library Express service.

Once the item has been requested, it will be checked out to you and mailed to your home address.

If you know the title of the book you would like to request a copy, follow these steps:

1. Search for the book using the library search feature.
2. Look for the Request It link.
   • NOTE: You may need to look for a link labelled Access Options to reveal the request link. In turn, this may require you to first click on a book's title before you're able to locate a request link.
3. Wait for your book.
   • If the Library has the book currently in our physical collection, the book will be checked out to you and mailed to your home address. 
   • If the Library doesn't currently have the book in our physical collection, an Interlibrary Loan request will automatically be generated for you.
