Streaming Video

Kanopy includes videos with perpetual (purchased and owned) and subscription (rental) licensing.

• Videos with a perpetual license can be found using the Library Search on the Libraries' homepage. Search for any topic and limit the search by "format, video" to find results. 
• Subscription titles must be searched within the Kanopy Platform.
• All videos (whether perpetual or subscription) can be found and viewed on Kanopy.

*Some titles in Kanopy are mediated and require that instructor's 'request' access. Instructors will be notified within one business day of the status of their request. 

In the past, some users have reported trouble getting logged in to Kanopy. When accessing Kanopy, you may be asked to authenticate via a two-step process. Our helpful FAQ "I'm trying to access Kanopy. Why doesn't the link doesn't take me straight to Kanopy streaming videos?" will walk you through authenticating step-by-step.

The majority of films on Kanopy have Public Performance Rights (PPR). Films that have PPR will display an icon; films without this icon are not permitted for group viewing. The icon will be displayed next to the video run time, below the Watch Now button.

When searching for films, you can limit to only those that have PPR. Select Filters under the search bar, and then scroll to the bottom and toggle Public Performance Rights on.
