The human body is a complex and fascinating structure, and understanding its intricate details is crucial for many fields of study. While traditional resources like textbooks and cadavers have served us well, technology offers us new and exciting ways to explore anatomy.

EKU Libraries is thrilled to announce that we're trialing two innovative 3D anatomy software platforms: BioDigital Human and Visible Body. These platforms offer a unique and interactive approach to learning about the human body, and we'd love for you to explore them and share your feedback!

Unveiling a New Dimension of Learning

What sets these platforms apart is their immersive 3D environment. Imagine rotating and zooming in on detailed models of muscles, bones, organs, and even entire systems. You can gain a deeper understanding of anatomical relationships and structures in ways that static images just can't replicate.

Beyond Visualization

These platforms go beyond simply displaying 3D models. They offer a variety of interactive features to enhance your learning experience, such as:

  • Dissections: Virtually dissect models, layer by layer, to gain a deeper understanding of internal structures.

  • Quizzes: Test your knowledge and solidify your understanding of anatomical concepts.

  • Augmented Reality (select platforms): Overlay 3D models onto real-world objects, creating a truly immersive learning experience.

Let Us Know What You Think

While we are excited about the potential of these platforms, we want to ensure they meet the needs of our academic community. That's where your feedback comes in! We encourage you to visit our Library Resource Trials webpage. This page provides information and tutorials for each platform: BioDigital Human and Visible Body. After exploring the platforms, please share your thoughts and experiences through our brief feedback form. Your insights will be invaluable in helping us evaluate the effectiveness and potential benefits of these resources for our library.

The trial period is open until May 1, 2024. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the future of anatomy learning and help us shape the resources available to our community!
