Introduction & Purpose

Teaching students to critically engage with the research process is foundational to Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Libraries’ academic mission. Our information literacy program LOs are mapped to the ACRL Framework to facilitate instructional best practices for information literacy and are presented in an order that roughly follows the research process.

Each outcome is equally important; however, there is no expectation that an individual instruction session, consultation, or resource—or series of such—will cover all outcomes. Furthermore, some instructional instances may require the creation of unique sub-outcomes, tailored to the targeted discipline, course, assignment, or individual.

For more information, including examples of student activities and/or actions that teach to each outcome, see Information Literacy Program Learning Outcomes.
