Library Instruction

Our Library Instruction program collaborates with course instructors to incorporate meaningful information literacy skills and concepts into the curriculum. 

• Schedule Library Instruction partner with a librarian to teach an assignment based research instruction class.
• LibStarts (Library Orientation) introduce your students to the Libraries' spaces, services, and wide variety of resources. No assignment needed!
• Request instruction by Special Collections and Archives relating to local primary sources and oral history.

We have a plethora of digital learning objects that can be integrated into your Blackboard course modules for asynchronous information literacy and EKU Libraries specific activities in your courses.

Research appointments should be a complement to library instruction. If you would like to incorporate research appointments into your course, please consider the following: 

• Require students who missed library instruction to schedule an individual research appointment.
• Encourage students to self-elect research appointments as needed.
• Blanket requirements are often ineffective. Instead, consider requiring individual students who are struggling with finding relevant and appropriate sources to schedule a research appointment.
