LRC Student Employee Training and Resource Guide

This guide contains training information for student employees of the Learning Resources Center.

LRC Loan Policy

In general, the LRC complies with EKU Libraries loan policy.  All patrons must present a current EKU ID or other valid picture ID when checking out materials.

  1. Youth books, audio/video, and professional materials circulate for four (4) weeks to undergraduate students; six (6) weeks to graduate students, honor students, and staff; and eighteen (18) weeks to faculty.
  2. Youth books, audio/video, and professional materials circulate to Non-University borrowers (NUB) for two (2) weeks, with a limit of five (5) items being checked out at any one time.
  3. LRC periodicals do not circulate.
  4. Dies, the Cricut and accessories, markers, scissors, and goodie bags (craft supplies) circulate for two (2) hours.

Patrons can renew items up to two times. After two renewals, if the patron still needs the item they can return it to the library and check it out again, so long as no holds exist on the item.

Currently enrolled students, faculty, staff, retired faculty or staff, alumni and non-university borrowers can borrow materials from the LRC.

EKU Libraries policy requires patrons to present a valid EKU ID, a valid EKU Library Card, or other valid photo ID (such as a driver's license or military ID) in order to check out materials.  The LRC follows this policy.  If patrons do not have any of the accepted forms of ID, they can place the items on hold.  The worker completes a Hold Slip, places this with the materials, and places the materials in the Holds basket.  These materials will be held for 24 hours.

Please direct patron questions about EKU IDs to the Office of University Card Services located in the Powell Student Center.

Non-University Borrowers

EKU Libraries extends borrowing privileges to the following groups:

  • Faculty/staff spouse/domestic partner
  • Model students and children of EKU employees
  • Alumni borrowers
  • Service Region borrowers
  • Visiting scholars
  • Friends of EKU Libraries
  • Retired faculty and staff
  • Students and faculty at participating FoKAL institutions (see below)

For more information about borrowing privileges for each of these groups visit https://libanswers.eku.edu/faq/105258

FoKAL Borrowing

Faculty, staff, and students from other Kentucky colleges and universities qualify for borrowing privileges at EKU.  This is a reciprocal agreement that the state assisted colleges and universities agreed to provide to each other.  The patrons have the same privileges that EKU patrons have (i.e. students have student status, faculty have faculty status).  They must get their EKU Libraries card at the Main Ciculation Desk before they can check-out at the LRC.
