At EKU Libraries, we are always excited to collaborate with our campus community, providing faculty and students with the resources and support they need for research and teaching. Recently, our College of Business library liaisons had the opportunity to present to CoB faculty on topics related to faculty research, scholarly publishing, and library services that can enhance academic work.

The presentation showcased a variety of resources designed to support faculty research, from scholarly publications to data collection tools. A key highlight was EKU Libraries’ Library Express service, which has been recently improved to provide even faster and more efficient access to materials for EKU patrons.

Another focus of the discussion was the Information Literacy Program Plans currently in development by EKU librarians. Kayla Davidson explained how these plans, currently under development, will help programs scaffold information literacy skills and research instruction throughout the curriculum, ensuring that students build their research abilities progressively and engage in more advanced inquiry over time.

Faculty also expressed interest in Open Educational Resources (OER) and the scholarly publishing process. EKU Libraries’ Open Strategies Librarian, Bailey Lake, led a conversation on the scholarly publishing cycle, addressing challenges within traditional publishing and exploring how Open Access publishing can provide greater visibility and impact for research. The discussion also covered how to measure the impact of open publications, track research metrics, and negotiate with publishers to retain author rights. This partnership with the College of Business is one example of how EKU Libraries works to support faculty research, promote information literacy, and advocate for accessible and impactful scholarship. We look forward to future collaborations that advance knowledge and innovation at EKU.

If you and your department are interested in learning more about these and other library services and collaborations, please reach out to your library liaison.
