Borrowing Privileges and User Groups

Information on different user groups at EKU Libraries, borrowing privileges, and information on overdue and lost or damaged books.

Non-University Borrower Guidelines

Anyone 18 year of age or older who resides within the EKU Service Region may borrow materials from the EKU Libraries. Visit the Library in person to complete the paperwork to obtain an EKU library card. You will need a valid picture ID and proof of a current physical address within the EKU Service Region.

  • An EKU Library card will permit you to check out up to five books, for a circulation period of two weeks. If you need the books longer, they can be renewed in person or by phone (859) 622-1790.
  • Please be aware that some departments of EKU Libraries may have restrictions on individual items or collections which may limit their use.
  • Enjoy the library's no fine policy, but remember, you will receive a bill for replacement costs if books are not returned.
  • Remember to bring your EKU Library card with you each time you come to the Libraries. Your use of the libraries, and your ability to borrow items may be severely restricted without it.
  • Should your EKU Library card become lost or stolen, it is important that you notify the EKU Libraries as quickly as possible. If your card is used without your knowledge, you will still be held responsible for items borrowed, lost, or damaged.
  • If you have any questions with your library account, or the services offered by EKU Libraries, please call (859) 622-1790 for more
