Distance & Online Learning

EKU Libraries are proud to support all EKU students, faculty and staff, regardless of location.  Much of what you need to conduct research can be found on the Libraries website, including ability to chat or txt with a librarian, search the library catalog, or search hundreds of online resources, even from home.  We will deliver books to your home or hold them for you at a Richmond Campus library.  Even more, if you need a book or article that we don't own, we'll even get it for you!

Q. How can I get library materials delivered to me?
A. Students, faculty and staff taking classes at any of our regional campuses can have materials delivered to their home address via UPS. A physical street address is required for delivery as UPS will not deliver to P.O. boxes. A prepaid return address label will be provided. If preferred, materials can be held for pick-up at one of our Richmond Campus library locations.

B. Journal articles not available full text online will be delivered to your Library Express account. When an article is available to download, an automated email notification from Library Express will be sent to your EKU email account.

Q. How long can library materials be checked out?
A. Checkout periods are usually longer to allow for delivery time to remote locations affiliated with EKU. Exceptions may apply to items not owned by EKU.

Q. How do I return library materials?
A. All library materials, except articles, can be returned via UPS with the prepaid return address label or to any one of our Richmond Campus library locations. Articles are yours to keep.

Q. How do I renew my items?
A. Items owned by EKU may be renewed online twice for 4 weeks for each renewal. Items not owned by EKU typically only have one renewal. Renewals for them should be requested three days prior to their due date and requested using your Library Express account or by emailing or calling Library Express.

Q. How do I get discipline-specific assistance?
A. The Library Liaison program is designed to link Library Faculty and University Academic departments.  Each academic department has been assigned a Library Faculty member.  Contact your liaison librarian to get discipline-specific assistance.
